Salvation

At Parkerson Avenue, we believe that every single person is a sinner in need of salvation. That salvation comes to the sinner by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. This simply means that no one can earn salvation by being a good person. Instead, salvation is a gift of grace that is received by faith in Jesus Christ, who is the only Savior. Jesus is the only Savior because Jesus is the only sinless one who could die in the place of others. His death on the cross was for your sin and mine. Three days later, Jesus broke the power of sin and death through His resurrection. By faith in Jesus Christ and His perfect life, death, and resurrection, our sin is forgiven and His righteousness is given to us. The result is that we are "sealed with the promised Holy Spirit" (Ephesians 1:13) and reconciled to God the Father, whom we sinned against, and adopted into His family. This message of the Gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ comes to us through the Scriptures alone, and God's saving work in the gospel is for His glory alone. In other words, the Bible - and only the Bible - tell us everything we need to know to be saved and God saves us in order to show us the glory of His grace, mercy, and love.

If you have any questions or want to know more about becoming a Christian, we would love to talk with you about that. Email our pastor at brandon@parkersonavenuebc.com or come to worship with us on Sundays at 10:00am and we'd love to talk with you after the service.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
